Arleas Upton Kea Scholarship
Arleas Upton Kea to established this scholarship for African American students attending The University of Texas at Austin. Arleas, BA ’79 with honors, JD ’82, Life Member, a woman of many firsts, was the first African American to assume significant roles, the Chief Operating Officer, Deputy to the Chairman, and Deputy General Counsel of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), President of the UT Law Alumni Association, and inductee to Orange Jackets. She served as a Law School Foundation Trustee and is a member of the Center for Women in Law and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. Mentored by Congresswoman and professor Barbara Jordan, Arleas continues the tradition by mentoring UT students, and is a frequent speaker at Texas Law.
