B. and V. Bhagat Memorial Scholarship
Dr. Surinder Bhagat, BS ’61, MS ’62, PhD ’66, always dreamed of establishing a scholarship to honor his parents, Dr. Balmukand Bhagat and Viran Wali Bhagat, who were fairly affluent until the partition of India in 1947, when they became refugees. Dr. Bhagat was a physician, and he and his wife held their seven children and assorted relatives together during very difficult times. Surinder’s widow, Louise, MA ’62, created this scholarship to fulfill her late husband’s wish. It benefits a deserving undergraduate pre-medicine student.
