Eugene McDermott Forty Acres Scholarship

Mrs. Eugene McDermott established this scholarship through the Eugene McDermott Foundation in her late husband’s honor.

Eugene McDermott was a geophysicist who co-founded Geophysical Service, which later reorganized into Texas Instruments. McDermott had a passion for improving his education. His wife Margaret endowed the Eugene McDermott Scholars Program at The University of Texas at Dallas in his honor.

The Eugene McDermott Foundation was created by McDermott in 1955. The foundation gives grants in support of educational, cultural, social-service and other civic and community ventures.
