Mary John and Ralph Spence Forty Acres Scholarship

Life Members Mary John and Ralph Spence were a love story—love of each other, their family, their community, their church and the University of Texas. They were committed to the learning experiences and were passionate about the importance of
higher education. Together they gave their time, talent and resources to ensure Texas was a university of the first class.

While attending the University, Mary John was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and served as Queen of the 1940 Texas Rose Festival.

Ralph, BBA ’42, was named “Outstanding Student,” Friar, Student Assemblyman, Cowboy, Who’s Who for three years, Goodfellow, and President of Phi Eta Sigma Scholastic Fraternity. He received the Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1976.
