Pete Geren

A Fort Worth attorney and businessman, Preston “Pete” M. Geren, BA ’75, JD ’78, Life Member, was a member of the U.S. Congress for four terms until his retirement in 1997. He joined the Department of Defense in September 2001 to serve as special assistant to the secretary of defense, with responsibilities for inter-agency initiatives, legislative affairs, and special projects. In 2007 President Bush appointed Geren the U.S. secretary of the Army.
