Pouncy, Jefferson, Walters Endowed Legacy Scholarship

The fall of 1990 saw the arrival of Katrinka R. Pouncy, John S. Jefferson and L. Christopher Walters as incoming freshmen to The University of Texas at Austin. With intentions of attaining technical degrees, John began a quest to achieve a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Information Systems, while Katrinka and Chris started degree plans towards a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. These three undergraduate students spent many evenings and weekends in computer labs and other campus environments conducive to achieving their academic goals. In addition, they maintained well-rounded college experiences by participating in extra-curricular activities related to both social and professional organizations.

In December of 1994, Donors successfully completed all requirements for their respective degrees and were able to walk across the graduation stage transforming from students to alums of the University. Understanding the challenges associated with attaining an undergraduate degree, while simultaneously experiencing college life at the University, these Donors believe in the positive impact being awarded a financial scholarship can have. Additionally, they see the value of a degree from the University, how it can lead to successful careers in the workplace and effectively position alumni to go forth and change the world.

Donors have established the PJW Endowed Legacy Scholarship to give undergraduate students like themselves, studying toward similar degrees, a better chance at being successful in their endeavors and eventually being a contributing member of society.
