Senator Florence Shapiro

Texas Senator and Life Member Florence Shapiro, BS ’70, of Plano, established this scholarship. During the 79th Texas Legislative Session, she served as Governor for a Day, and friends and supporters raised a record amount of money to help pay for the event, with additional funds to give back to the University she loves so much and to help a deserving student from Plano attend her alma mater. The scholarship benefits an African-American or Hispanic entering freshman from Plano with a financial need for four years of undergraduate study.
