Senator Judith Zaffirini Scholarship

Carlos Zaffirini, Jr., BBA ’03, JD ’06, Life Member, established this scholarship to honor his mom, Life Member Senator Judith Zaffirini, BS ’67, MA ’70, JD ’78. Since 1987, she has served as a member of the Texas State Senate, representing the 21st, and was the first Hispanic woman to be elected to the Texas Senate. Dr. Zaffirini is a communication specialist and the owner and founder of Zaffirni Communications. The scholarship was established to promote access to higher education for students who find it difficult to pay the rising cost of tuition, in addition to help inspire the entrepreneurial spirit amongst South Texas students.
