The Betty Cotten Memorial Flying Longhorns Scholarship

The Betty Cotten Memorial Flying Longhorns Scholarship

This scholarship was funded with contributions from friends and family to honor the life of Betty George Cotten. Betty was an integral part of the Texas Exes family for over 20 years, and she touched the lives of thousands of Texas Exes through her work as Travel Director for the Flying Longhorns, a job she called “the best in the world.” She loved life, lived it to the fullest and made a huge impact on everyone who knew her. Betty is survived by her husband Mike Cotten, daughters Ashley Putman and Lesley Childress, their husbands David and Brad and six grandchildren. The contributions given in Betty’s memory will be added to the existing Flying Longhorn Scholarship that has been renamed in her honor. This scholarship meant a lot to Betty because it was established by Flying Longhorns to help fund UT students who want to study abroad. It is especially appropriate that Betty’s love of travel will live on forever through the lives of students who want to learn about other cultures.
