The Carol Barrett Scholarship

Alumni and friends of the University of Texas at Austin and the Texas Exes came together to create The Carol Barrett Scholarship in honor of her 50 years of dedication and service to the Texas Exes. Presented to Carol on September 30, 2023 at the Texas Exes tailgate of the UT- Kansas football game, this scholarship is to recognize her devotion to bettering the lives of Longhorn students and alumni.

Carol received her B.S. in Home Economics in 1969 and began her career at the Texas Exes on October 1, 1973. During her tenure Carol led two major capital projects to expand the alumni center and its grounds, ran alumni events, grew the Flying Longhorns travel program, oversaw the Retired Faculty and Staff Association, started the Life Membership payment plan, and spearheaded the growth and development of many other programs of the alumni association. She is a beloved figure on the University campus and has mentored countless students and staff members. Carol is the epitome of servant leadership.
