Our scholars demonstrate intellectual curiosity and a track record of outstanding academic success. Most importantly, they have passion and a desire to live out the core values of The University of Texas at Austin. The three tenets of the program are community, connection, and discovery. It is a transformational adventure that helps individuals reach their full potential, and, alongside academic achievement, focuses on personal development, relationship building, and gaining perspective. As the only program of its kind administered by an alumni association, Forty Acres Scholars develop a unique relationship with their alma mater and graduate with an extraordinary network of Longhorns standing behind them.
Students who have the best chance of being invited to Finalist Weekend are well-rounded and:

Forty Acres Scholars participate in valuable programming and attend many events throughout their four years on campus. Examples include: a weekly Freshman Dinner Series in the fall of their first semester, an annual retreat, service opportunities, the Distinguished Alumnus Awards, and Forty Acres Discussions with prominent UT alumni. Each Forty Acres Scholar receives a $13,000 enrichment stipend to use toward a global experience such as study abroad, research, service and volunteering, or an internship. If you are selected, how would you spend these funds?
